1 month in review...
This past month has been a whirlwind. I have experienced joy and pain, patience and weakness, and felt an abundance of love I can hardly even describe. Here are a few memories .......
- First smiles and staring contests
- Rolling over and crawling on the play mat
- Making bottles, warming bottles, cleaning bottles, etc...
- Doing laundry ALL THE TIME
- Re-doing Evan's bath because I left too much lather
- Visiting the Florida Theatre & work family- Evan is mesmerized by all the lights
- Running out of Target because Evan was having a "moment" and scratched his face and drew blood
- The pups alert me that Evan is awake or crying
- Week 3 Evan moves into his room and LOVES IT
- Finally, Evan sleeps a 4-hr stretch through the night (well sorta)
- All the wonderful family and friends that have reached out to us (near and far)
- Auntie Traci keeping us company on Fridays
- Celebrating my 1st Mother's Day
Please follow the link below to see Evan's newborn photos. Too precious for words.

More pics and a quick update- Gangster Elf is in the house!

Last Friday (before Scott's MBA graduation) we went to the Dr. for Evan's 2-week check-up! Little man gained 1lb & 3oz! He no longer fits into newborn clothes or diapers. I have also come to realize that the sizes on all the clothes, especially those that say 3-6 months, really means the smaller size. What a scam! Plus, my new pastime is doing laundry, ugh.
I also had a "falling in love" moment the other night- we had a true connection. I cried out of immense happiness and surprise I can love something so much. Evan followed my voice as I sang and he fluttered his big blue eyes with approval. I then listened for an hour to his squeaks and hums and roots and toots- they became more intense when he ate, it was so cute. And even now, it makes me melt as I write this.
Another thing I love, and it reminds me of the last few months of pregnancy, are Evan's pumped fists and raised arms he is determined to put on display. He breaks out of his swaddle, aka, straight jacket, within a few moments of me putting the finishing touches on the garb. I can still feel the jabs in my tummy...well, it was actually under my rib cage. He is a powerhouse.
I have been very fortunate to have family with me as I heal, but I am also looking forward to some alone time and getting into a routine. I'm still not up to snuff, but I got the green light to drive. I honestly have no desire to hit the road (too sore & tired).
Lastly, a shout out again to Kelly & Kim for the lovely baby photo gifts. They are amazing- thanks Kelly from Pure Sugar Studios for your creative eye and talent.

Hi everyone! I wanted to thank you for the lovely cards, phone calls, personal visits, pictures, flowers, yummy treats and most of all, your love and support. Your kind wishes mean a lot. I do miss everyone.
It has been a rocky recovery for me- think of being gutted like a fish....and I hate fish! Then inflating like Violet from Willie Wonka and the Chocolate Factory. And, mix in the emotions and reality of HOLY SHIT- I have a baby!
My mom, sis, and superstar Scott have been by my side and really have taken charge- and you know how hard that is for me to give up control, haha. Each day gets better. I have finally been able to come out of my cabin and make it downstairs and into the car.
We had our first Dr. appt and all went superb. It is amazing it has been almost a week since Evan's arrival. He is a great pooper, tooter, master bottle feeder, and explorer. I melt every time I see him looking around and gazing at all things new- like the trees blowing past the skylights in the bedroom, the bed mobile, rocking in the bouncer, and the furry animals running around him.
Feel free to email me- I am usually online in the wee hours of the morning catching up on things. I hope you are all doing well- please keep me posted!
p.s. Scott graduates 4/24/, Friday, with his MBA! And it will also be Evan's 2 week bday!
